ABOUT THE TFBA

The Timber Frame Builder’s Association (TFBA) was established in 1982 with its main aim being to set and maintain high standards of quality and professionalism in the timber construction industry. It has as its mantra "The Seal of Controlled Quality" – thus compelling our builders to adhere to ethical building practices.

the committeeIn conjunction with the National Building Regulations (NBR) and the South African Bureau of Standards Code of Practice for timber buildings (SABS 082/88) now known as SANS 10082, our founder-members set about firmly establishing timber frame construction in the market, and today we boast a 26 year history with an unblemished track record. It remains the goal of the TFBA to increase awareness of the many benefits of timber buildings and to ensure that the high standards it set more than two decades ago are constantly upheld.

The TFBA is widely regarded as the representative organisation for the timber building industry in South Africa and our Seal of Controlled Quality motto is synonymous with excellent craftsmanship and strong ethics.

Our Association is nationally represented and has committees in almost all provinces. Our membership of builders, architects and designers, consultants and engineers, suppliers and merchants has grown exponentially over the last decade, and we experienced a 20% increase in membership in 2007! This is attributed to the ever-increasing demand for our beautiful, Award-wining homes.
